  • Meeting Tomorrow Cancelled, Updates from WA FOP
    Posted On: Aug 25, 2025

    Brothers and Sisters,

You're going to get several notificaitons about upcoming meetings, some cancelled some still on. This email is a courtesy to provide a little more info. As a board we really don't like blowing up your emails and try to limit how much we do these email blasts but will all the "dings" you all are about to get I felt a heads up as to why was needed.

We had tried to plan a meeting for tomorrow 8/26, in hopes of getting the National Conference Delgation together to debrief the board prior to our normally scheduled meeting on 9/2. Well we couldn't get enough folks together to justify the meeting tomorrow night. Instead we will include the updates from the delagation at our normally planned meeting Tuesday 9/2/25.

In conclusion the meeting tomorrow (/256) is cancelled but the meeting nexst week Tues (9/2) is still on at SWPD and we will have pizza for those able to attend. Just a reminder all members can come to any meeting and we still have an unfilled vice presidnet role and now we're also seeking a new Chairman of the Delegates position.

In trying to make these emails as effective as possible I am also including several updates from Washington FOP, including the below messages from WA President Jeff Anaya abotu National Dues increase and an update on the issues with Thin Blue Line Insurance and a call for committee members at the State level.

This concludes my portion of this email, see below for the President Messages.

    Respectfully Submitted,

    Zach Carroll

    WAFOP Lodge 18 Secretary

    From Pres Anaya:

    Brothers and Sisters,

At the recent National Fraternal Order of Police Biennial Conference in Miami, the membership from across the country voted on several amendments, including changes to the National FOP per capita dues. Because this decision impacts every member, I want to provide a clear explanation of what was approved and how it will affect us moving forward.

The per capita dues are collected annually by the National FOP from every member. These funds are essential for supporting national operations, programs, and advocacy efforts, as well as the NFOP Foundation, which provides vital assistance to officers and their families in times of crisis.

Here is the breakdown of the approved changes:

    • Current Per Capita: $11.50 annually per member.

    • 2027 Increase: Beginning with the first half of per capita in 2027, the amount will increase by $3.00, raising the total to $14.50 annually per member. Of that, $1.00 will go to the NFOP Foundation.

    • 2030 Increase: Beginning with the first half of per capita in 2030, the amount will increase by another $3.00, raising the total to $17.50 annually per member. Again, $1.00 of that amount will go to the NFOP Foundation.

These adjustments were debated and approved by the full voting body of the National Conference, ensuring every state and local lodge had representation in the decision. While modest, these increases reflect the growing costs of maintaining the programs, advocacy, and support that benefit all FOP members nationwide.

We share this information now to ensure full transparency and to prepare our lodges for these changes well in advance.

    Fraternally,

    Jeff Anaya
    Washington State FOP President

    Brothers and Sisters,

It has come to our attention that complaints have been filed with the Washington Attorney General’s Office and the Office of the Insurance Commissioner regarding the Thin Blue Line Insurance program. I want to take a moment to clarify Washington State FOP’s role in this matter.

This plan is a benefit marketed and administered by the National Fraternal Order of Police. The Washington State FOP promoted this program solely because of National’s involvement, with the intention of making members aware of the options available to them. Beyond that, WAFOP has no direct role in the management, operation, or administration of this plan.

The Fraternal Order of Police offers a variety of plans and benefits to its members nationwide. In every case, these programs require active FOP membership, but the business and contractual aspects are entirely overseen by the National FOP. WAFOP does not control or influence these programs, nor do local lodges.

While this issue should not directly affect our local lodges, it is important to understand that many outside our organization see “the FOP” as a single entity. When concerns arise at the national level, they can reflect on all levels of the organization—national, state, and local alike.

We share this information to provide clarity and transparency. Should members have questions or concerns about the Thin Blue Line Insurance program, those should be directed to the National FOP, which is solely responsible for its oversight.

    Fraternally,

    Jeff Anaya
    Washington State FOP President

    Brothers and Sisters,

As we move forward from the National Conference, I want to express how wonderful it is to see so many people eager to get involved, along with many new faces. With that in mind, I would like to share information about our state-level committees and invite anyone interested in participating to reach out regarding the committees they'd like to join. Even if you were unable to attend the conference, I encourage you to express your interest. This organization thrives on your involvement and the contributions of your voice.

    The committees are:

    ·       Recruitment Committee – Develops and promotes strategies to attract and retain qualified law enforcement officers and organizational members.

    ·       Retiree Committee – Maintains connections with retired members, ensures they stay informed, educates on HR 218, assists with organizing and conducting LEOSA qualification shooting events, and provides opportunities for engagement and recognition.

    ·       Memorial Committee – Coordinates remembrance efforts for fallen officers, including ceremonies, memorial events, and support for surviving families.

    ·       Wellness Committee – Promotes physical, mental, and emotional health resources for officers and their families, with a focus on resilience and work-life balance. This includes organizing training events throughout the state.

    ·       Scholarship Committee – Manages the process of awarding scholarships to members, their families, or community partners in support of educational advancement.

    ·       Constitution and By-Laws Committee – Reviews, updates, and ensures compliance with the organization’s governing documents and operational rules.

    ·       Awards Committee – Oversees the nomination and selection process for recognizing outstanding service and contributions to the organization or community.

    ·       Marketing Committee – Develops and implements outreach strategies, branding, and communication materials to promote the organization’s mission and initiatives.

    ·       Labor Committee – Addresses collective bargaining issues, contract negotiations, and workplace concerns to protect and advance members’ rights.

    ·       Finance Committee – Oversees budgeting, expenditures, and financial planning to ensure fiscal responsibility and transparency.

If any of these topics interest you or if you want more information, please feel free to reach out to me. I plan on having these appointments settled by the end of the month. I genuinely appreciate all your hard work and dedication to our profession and organization.
